Starlight Starbright Foundation
Who they are: Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a world of difference for seriously ill children and their families. We touch the lives of a sick child and family all along their journey through a serious illness, from the time of diagnosis all the way through, in the hospital and at home. Families become part of our community and we work hard to meet their needs in a wide variety of ways. We build playrooms and teen lounges in hospitals and provide PC Pals and Fun Centers so kids can play games, e-mail, chat with friends, and even do their homework from their hospital bed.
We bring in entertainers and sponsor parties for kids who are stuck in the hospital. When the kids get to go home, we keep them connected them through online chat rooms and special outings for the entire family. We provide them with information about specific illnesses and treatments on our websites and through videos and games we create. We distribute hundreds of thousands of books and toys every year. We are there for them at the time they need it most.
Starlight Starbright softens the hard edges of what a family experiences when a child has a serious illness. We create a sense of community between families who are having similar experiences by providing opportunities for them to escape the hospital, doctors, nurses, needles and treatments and doing something fun where they get to join others and just feel "normal" again--perhaps even forgetting that anyone is sick for a short while.

Famous Phone Friends
FAMOUS FONE FRIENDS is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization that provides bright moments in the lives of children who are hospitalized or home-bound due to serious illness or injury. Celebrities telephone these children to talk about hobbies, friends, school and other subjects of interest. FAMOUS FONE FRIENDS can be an actor, athlete or musician even Mickey Mouse, Sponge Bob or Bart Simpson!
Hospitals phone/fax in the name of the children, giving ages, brief medical descriptions, phone numbers and sometimes, requests for specific celebrities. FFF then contacts that celebrity, relaying information about the child. Every effort is made to have the child called as soon as possible as children are often referred when they are in dire and immediate need of a lift in spirits. Sometimes a childs condition changes: for the better and he is discharged; or for the worse, and he may be in Intensive Care and unable to speak on the phone, so FFF volunteers work to connect children with celebrities as quickly and expediently as possible.
FFF is supported from annual donations by Studio Teachers and members of the community.
Some of the celebrities that volunteer on a regular basis are: Ben Savage, David Hasselhoff, Henry Winkler and Jay Leno. As popular as their live-action shows might be, this is a perfect venue for voice-over artists, as you can imagine, because it is all done by telephone. Can you imagine being eight years old and receiving a call from Captain Hook, Roger Rabbit, Pinky, Phil and/or Lil? Well, Corey Burton, Jess Harnell, Rob Paulsen and Kath Souci are a few of the unsung voice-over artists who dedicate time regularly, calling kids who need a little brightness in their lives.
